There is only one way to close out March Madness. Now we can put college basketball to rest until next winter. Click the more tab for my brief tournament recap.
Congratulations to the UCONN Huskies for winning it all. While the championship game was ugly, the Huskies prevailed. No one had an answer for Kemba Walker in the Big East Championship or the NCAA tournament and this is why the Huskies are champs. We also saw the emergence of Jeremy Lamb in this year’s tournament. He is long, thin, and quick off of his first step. Look for Lamb to emerge as a big player in the Big East next season.
It was great to see teams like Morehead State, Richmond, VCU and Butler advance deep in the tournament. I expect to see more mid-major teams advance in the future. Congratulations to the country’s newest millionaire, Shaka Smart of VCU. He recently signed a much deserved new 8 year deal. We will see how long Shaka stays at VCU and how long Brad Stevens stays at Butler.
This off-season will be interesting because many of the top players in the country are being rumored that they will stay in college. I hope they do, the more prepared they will be when they get to the NBA and the better the competition will be next year in college basketball. This may not be the best thing in the world for the Cleveland Cavaliers who probably have no clue who they are picking in the draft. I guess that is just the way the cracker crumbles.
