Today on CBS’s The Talk, Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, Aisha Tyler, Sharon Osbourne, and Sheryl Underwood took on a multitude of topics including hot summer trends, Rock n’ Roll and Multiple Sclerosis.
The first guest was co-host Sharon Osbourne’s son, Jack Osbourne, who recently opened up to press about his new diagnosis of MS.
Jack described Multiple Sclerosiss as similar to arthritis. While Arthritis is the inflammation of bones, MS is the inflammation of the nerves. It’s a hard disease to diagnose, as some of its symptoms are similar to other medical issues.
Jack was officially diagnosed with MS in May, but doctors told him he has been living with it for years. Some symptoms he missed years earlier were numbness in his leg he thought was a pinched nerve, and stomach problems. Jack finally went to the hospital when his right eye became 80% blind over a span of 3 days.
With the recent engagement to long time girlfriend, and birth of their daughter, Pearl, Jack said he has many other things to worry about. He is confident he can overcome MS, and appreciates all the positive tweets and emails he has been receiving from fans. Sharon also said they will be donating money to MS research.
The Talk also had Pat Benatar and husband Neil Giraldo on the show today. They sat and chatted with the hosts for awhile, reminiscing about how they first became a duo. When they met, Neil had a girlfriend and Pat was going through a divorce. However, Pat called up her friend and told her “I just met the man who will become the father of my children.” Thirty-three years later, and Pat and Neil are still playing together and happily married.
Benatar and Giraldo will be touring with Journey and Loverboy this summer. They discussed how they had tried to do this tour twice before, but couldn’t because Neil suffered a horrible injury. While on tour in Cincinatti, Neil said he tried to play guitar but couldn’t pick up a pick. He had no grip and no feeling in his arm. He went to the hospital and it turned out he had nerve entrapment. He had to have surgery and take time to recover. He is fine now, however, and ready to rock out this summer with his wife and Journey!
The show ended with the duo playing Love Is A Battlefield and We Belong. Everyone in the audience received a copy of Pat’s memoir, Between A Heart and a Rock Place.
