Several Cleveland police officers are under investigation for stealing beer from a flipped beer delivery truck. WOIO reports the beer delivery truck flipped over a couple of weeks ago while traveling on dead man’s curve on I-90 in near downtown Cleveland. Police arrived on the scene and the truck was towed to G&M Towing and Recovery lot on East 55th and Woodland Ave.
According to the records from Cleveland police, at least two police officers went back to the towing lot an hour and a half later to “continue their investigation.” Internal investigators report that the truck driver also returned back to the lot to check on his truck where he spotted the two police officers stealing cases of beer. According to the officers, the lot manager gave them permission to take the beers from the truck stating that “they would have likely been thrown out anyway.”
The officers at fault may potentially lose their jobs and even face criminal charges, but at this time there is no report if the punishments will be criminal or internal.
