WNCX Weekend Preview – The Blues, Parades & Parties

This weekend kicks off with the one and only King of Blues. BB King will be performing this Friday, June 7th at the Akron Civil Center. The legendary BB King has released 60 albums since he started recording music in the 1940’s and will be playing many of his classic blue’s hits at the concert. The 20th Annual Riverfront Irish Festival starting Friday, June 7th and continuing all weekend until Sunday, June 9th. Parking and admission to the event is free. Activities begin Friday at 5p.m. until midnight, Saturday at 8 a.m. with the 7th annual 5K and 1 mile fun run and Sunday 11 a.m. until 7p.m. The Festival, located at Falls River Square in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, will include music, the Irish Market Place with traditional Irish and American fare, Irish food court, Irish Mass on Sunday, Traditional Irish dance as well as kids Inflatables & kid’s activities. The Cleveland Gladiators are back this Friday, June 7th for the start of their season playing against the Iowa Barnstormers. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena with tickets available at the arena box office or online at theQarena.com. Tickets are just $10 and doors for the game will open 60 minutes before kickoff.

Classic Fest at NLQP

Need more Zeppelin and Floyd in your life? Well, get out to Nelson Ledges Quarry Park for Classic Fest. The little piece of paradise located in Garrettsville are hosting their annual festival featuring tribute bands like Several Species (Pink Floyd), War Pigz (Black Sabbath), Kashmir (Led Zeppelin), Ragged Glory (Neil Young), Limelight (Rush) and a whole lot more.  See the complete line-up HERE. Weekend admission including camping is only $60 for Friday through Sunday or $50 for Saturday through Sunday.

The 24th Parade the Circle Village takes place on Saturday June 8th this year from 11 a.m. – 4p.m. at Wade Oval, 10820 East Boulevard in Cleveland. The event includes a parade that incorporates the drama and artistry of colorful floats, puppets, costumes, dancers, and musicians. Circle Village invites visitors onto Wade Oval for an afternoon of activities, live music, and delectable food. Food vendors include Mitchell’s Ice Cream, Rascal House Pizza, Constantino’s Market and more. For more information about the event, visit universitycircle.org.

This Saturday June 8th will be the third Cleveland Flea of this summer season starting at noon and going until 6 p.m. The event is hosted once a month at 6202 St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland and offers those who go the full Cleveland experience with local vendors, food trucks and artists. The Cleveland Flea also offers classes that aim to connect those who take the classes with the maker community. For more information check out the Cleveland Flea’s website at theclevelandflea.com.

Interested in art? Come check out the pARTy in Gordon Square this Saturday June 8th for a chance to enjoy outdoor stage performances by Cleveland Public Theater and Near West Theater as well as a Superman exhibit, art, a beer garden, fashion, food and more! The pARTy starts at 2p.m. and goes until 11 p.m. and admission is free. The event is hosted at 65th and Detroit Ave right in the heart of Gordon Square Arts District. Space: ROCK is offering Cleveland rock fanatics the chance to tour their gallery that now showcases recent Cleveland concerts through the work of photographer Joe Kleon with their newest exhibit A Decade of Decibels. The gallery, which opened in April 2013, is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and is located at 15721 Waterloo Road.
