Front man of the legendary progressive rock band Jethro Tull, Ian Anderson posted to the bands website Friday, July 5th that a new album is in the works, however it is not sure whether it will be an Ian Anderson or a Jethro Tull record just yet.

Anderson, who released his solo album Thick as a Brick 2 in 2012 as a follow up to 1972′s Thick as a Brick, says that this album, which is currently unnamed, will be a more aggressive style than TAAB 2.

Anderson tells his fans in the post that he will start recording the new album in December of this year or January of 2014. He will begin to play the new material during the UK tour in late April of next year.

While Anderson will not release a lot of information about the new album, he did mention there will be much less acoustic guitar, more flute and heavier guitar sounds than what was in TAAB2.

Just like with the original Thick as a Brick and TAAB2, Anderson makes mention of Gerald Bostock, his fictional character that he used to write the concept albums, helping with the new album.

Anderson warns his fans in the letter that the album is not a for sure thing just yet.

“But then again, knowing me (as I am learning to do), I might just scrap it all and start afresh,” said Anderson on the Jethro Tull website.

While the new material will not be ready this year, Anderson will be making a stop on his tour to Cain Park in Cleveland Heights on July 19th. The concert is set to include both Thick as a Brick 1 and 2 as well as other songs from his four solo albums.

Tickets for the concert are still available at the Cain Park website as well as through Ticketmaster with prices ranging from $30- $75.
