The current show at the Space: ROCK music photography gallery on Waterloo Road, A Decade of Decibels: The Photography of Joe Kleon, runs though Sunday July 28.
The gallery will host a closing event on Saturday July 27 from noon-5 pm. It will feature a 1 pm oral history interview with Michael Stanley, conducted by former Cleveland radio personality David Spero. It will cover Stanley’s career from his earliest high school bands through the early ’80s when the Michael Stanley Band sold out Blossom Music Center to the music he’s making today. The interview will be taped for preservation at the Rock Hall Library and Archives.
It’s part of a series of oral history interviews with key figures in the Cleveland music scene being sponsored by the gallery’s parent organization, Cleveland Rocks: Past, Present & Future. The nonprofit is dedicated to the preservation of Cleveland’s music history, the promotion of its present scene, and the development of its musical future.
Photography Joe Kleon will be in the gallery from noon-2pm. He will speak briefly prior to the Stanley interview and answer questions about the frustrations and triumphs of shooting rock stars.
Space: ROCK is at 15721 Waterloo, located between the Beachland Ballroom and Music Saves record store. Hours are 1-5 pm Saturday and Sunday.
