September 18th is one of the most memorable dates for legendary rock band KISS.
Due to their record contract that stipulated that each member release a solo album, all four members decided to release their project on the same date in 1978.
While Stanley and Frehley’s stayed true to their rock roots, Criss ventured into R&B and Simmons made an album that crossed musical genres, featuring pop and hard-rock.
All four solo albums would make it in the Top 50 of the Billboard album chart and reach platinum status.
Also on this day, thirty years ago, the four men (Simmons, Stanley, Vinnie Vincent & Eric Carr) made their first public appearance without their trademark makeup. In an interview and performance on MTV, they decided to shock fans by giving them a unique, personal look of who they are.
