The Daily Cut: The Doobie Brothers “Another Park, Another Sunday”

The Doobie Brothers: “Another Park, Another Sunday”

ALBUM: What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits

YEAR: 1974

WRITERS: Tom Johnston

Peaked at number-32 the Billboard Hot 100.

“’Another Park, Another Sunday’ was a really nice song. I remember there were a lot of people telling me that when the album came out, that they loved that song. And it did get put out as a single and it was killed in Texas, because of the words, ‘And the radio just seems to bring me down,’ which is in reference to a song coming off the radio reminding you of the love that you lost, or something like that. And they killed it – effectively. And I never really forgot that. That was a very nice song and everybody liked it.”

Doobie Brothers singer-guitarist Tom Johnston celebrates his 68th birthday today.
