BEREA (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns continue to clean house.
Hours after cutting their most experienced defender, the team traded their 3-time Pro Bowl punter, Andy Lee along with a 2017 seventh round draft pick, to Carolina.
In return the Browns received Panthers punter Kasey Redfern, who has never kicked in a regular season game, and a 2018 fourth round pick.
Whether or not the trade was a byproduct of Friday night’s animated conversation with head coach Hue Jackson in the first quarter remains to up for debate.
Lee boomed a 52-yard punt but made no attempt to tackle Buccaneers returner Adam Humphries on a 73-yard return for a touchdown prompting Jackson to have a conversation with Lee.
The Browns acquired Lee from San Francisco last season and he appeared in all 16 games and punted 70 times with 25 being downed inside 20-yard line.
Lee’s 46.7 gross average and 40.1 net average in 2015 were Browns single-season records.
