Roger Waters Trashes Donald Trump at Desert Trip Festival

Waters also urged Israel to 'end the occupation.'

Last night, Roger Waters headlined the third evening of the Desert Trip festival, which also featured ’60s/’70s icons the Rolling Stones, the Who, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Paul McCartney. But Waters was one of the few to add pointed political commentary to his set.

While performing “Pigs (Three Different Ones)” from Pink Floyd’s 1977 album Animals, the band’s co-founder unleashed a series of images targeting Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Concertgoers who made the show missed the second presidential debate, but saw plenty of Trump in a series of doctored images on a massive screen: Trump as a sheep; Trump holding a sex toy as a rifle; Trump with sagging breasts; Trump in a KKK hood; Trump making a Nazi salute; Trump with a micro penis. The giant screen behind Waters broadcast his message: “Donald Trump is a Pig.”

And of course, Pink Floyd’s iconic inflatable pig made an appearance. This time it was red and black with x’s over its eyes and anti-Trump slogans written across its sides: “F— Trump and his wall” and “Arrogant, lying, racist, sexist.”

He also voiced solidarity with college students protesting for Palestine and urged people to support the BDS Movement, whose stated purpose is to end international support for Israel’s oppression of Palestinians, saying, “I encourage the government in Israel to end the occupation.”

This isn’t the first time Waters put his feelings about the White House hopeful. The Pink Floyd frontman shared is distaste for Trump during a show in Mexico City two weeks ago. Both Trump and Mexico’s President were both in Waters’ cross hairs.
