The Daily Cut: The Moody Blues “Nights in White Satin”

The Moody Blues: “Nights in White Satin”

ALBUM: Days of Future Passed

YEAR: Recorded in 1967, first released as a single in 1968, then reissued in 1972, when it became a huge hit.

WRITER: Justin Hayward

Moody Blues frontman Justin Hayward tells us that if he realized he’d be called upon for years to comment on writing “Nights in White Satin,” he’d have thought about it more. But, he says, he didn’t know that at the time.  “I didn’t think about it at the time. It was just another song I was writing and I thought it was very powerful. It was a very personal song and every note, every word in it means something to me and I found that a lot of other people have felt that very same way about it.”

Moody Blues singer, songwriter and guitarist Justin Hayward celebrates his 70th birthday today (October 14th).
