Jack White to Headline Farm Aid 2014 Alongside Neil Young, Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp & Dave Matthews
Jack White doesn’t seem to care too much about baseball, but he does care about America’s farmers. And to show his appreciation he’s headlining this year’s Farm Aid in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews and Tom Morello also paid tribute to the legend.
On today’s date, Jimi Hendrix would have been 71 and John Mellencamp finds out he’s being inducted into the Rock Hall.
Co-written by Orbison and Bill Dees the song became one of Orbison’s biggest hits to date, selling seven million copies and spending three weeks at number one on both the Billboard Hot 100, and has been covered by Al Green, John Mellencamp, Johnny Rivers, Bon Jovi, Green Day and Van Halen.It also, of course, was used at the title for the 1990 blockbuster movie Pretty Woman starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
The Paintings of John Mellencamp will feature 40 oil paintings, some of which have never been seen by the general public.
The comprehensive boxed set collection will feature nineteen CDs released by Mellencamp from his 35 year career, including American Fool, Lonesome Jubilee, Scarecrow, Cuttin’ Heads, Life, Death, Love and Freedom and No Better Than This.
