Happy Birthday Tom Waits

Few artists amuse me as much as Tom Waits, for started that gravelly, raspy voice that cut through you like a ghost in a dark hallway. That haunting hoarseness that belts out blues of the darker side ringing you soul like a church bell only it’s Friday not Sunday, Add in the colorful lyrics and hook phrases that have become a trademark as unique as any bluesman.
Although I lean towards Small Change being the LP of his I reference the most in the Saturday Night Live House Party on 98.5 WNCX there are other albums were worth your time and money. The 1973 “Closing Time” with I Hope That I Don’t Fall in Love with You and a great version of “Ice Cream Man” for a start. Last Year’s “Bad as Me” has a lot to offer too “Get Lost” and “Kiss Me” even the song “ Raised Right Man” has all the classic Tom Waits power in it.

Steve Vai Wants To Cast Tom Waits & Pink In Movie Version Of His New LP

Steve Vai is currently on tour for his new record, “The Story Of Light,” a concept album with a long cast of characters. In a recent interview, Vai told CBS Local that he was “casting” the album even as he was writing it. In his mind, Tom Waits and Pink would be idea to play two of the roles, should he ever produce a movie based on the album.
